SEO for Personal Injury Attorneys

How Much Traffic Should a Personal Injury Website Get?

Before continuing, if you are experiencing fluctuating traffic or spikes in your law firm’s traffic you should read about referrer spam affecting personal injury websites.

How much traffic should you be getting?

If you have logged in to Google Analytics you may be surprised to see how much traffic your website receives. It can be tough to break 20 new visitors a day.

If your website has some power then new, unique content should rank on the front page of Google search. The issue is there just aren’t that many people looking up “chainsaw accidents in Las Vegas”.

It is important to focus on user intent. Just because it is not a highly trafficked term does not mean that it will not generate a lead at some point.

“Car Accident Lawyer” is a very powerful term to be ranked for. If you rank for this term on page 1 in a major city you can expect 5- 20 hits a day to your car accident page.

Traffic averages

In many cases, websites that have a mild SEO campaign going and are working their way up through the pages and rank on page 2 or 3 for some decent search terms are likely getting 5 – 20 visits a day.

5 – 20 hits a day doesn’t sound like a lot but it can be very valuable when the phone finally rings and this is actually more than most attorneys get.

Here is a screenshot of a site’s traffic that obtains around 150 visitors a day. Keep in mind that this is a website that I have worked with for a couple of years. It also belongs to a very highly rated attorney, which always helps. This amount of traffic comes from a very wide variety of content. This site in particular has around 600 large pages of content on it. In other words, even on a good day, 66% of the content is never seen. I should also note that the population of the city this attorney is in is approximately 500,000 people. Larger cities = more competition = less traffic.

Content is one of the most important things a personal injury website can have. If you are not building out large and informative pages consistently you are not going to get relevant traffic. If you do not have time to accomplish this, hire a personal injury attorney content writer who has a proven track record in your specific niche, be it auto accidents or medical malpractice.
